  1. Card deck: Deal all cards (betting slips) evenly to everyone that ‘anted’ up.  If there is an uneven amount of cards to players, you can determine to make it uneven or discard the remainder.  These are now your betting slips and become your key to winning the game.

    • The numbers on your betting slips represent your horse.  2=2, 3=3 etc.

    • Note: Just like in horse racing, multiple people can bet on the same horse.  In this game, if the betting slips are handed out evenly, there will be four cards with the same horse number.  Sometimes, the same person may hold 2, 3, or 4 of the same card, which is fine.  If that horse wins, the payout will be larger because that person has more bets on the same horse.

  2. Time to roll the dice and scratch 4 horses. The numbers on the dice correspond to the first scratch horse and drop back one space (25).  Repeat three more times accordingly:

    • Second roll moves the corresponding horse 2 spaces to the 50.

    • Third roll moves the corresponding horse 3 spaces to the 75.

    • Fourth roll moves the corresponding horse 4 spaces to the 100.

    • If a repeat horse is rolled, roll again until a new horse is rolled.

    • These horses are scratched and will not run in the race.  From this point forward, if these horses are rolled during gameplay, the person rolling will be required to pay the pot according to the value.  If you have a card that matches the scratched horse, remove it from your hand and place it in a discard pile.

  3. The remainder of the horses are still in the race and one will cross the finish line first.  Cheering for your horse(s) will greatly improve your chance of winning!

    • Note: It is up to the house to determine the betting denominations.

    • Game play starts clockwise.

  4. Player 1 rolls the dice. If the value on the dice matches a horse on the starting line, ADVANCE that horse forward 1 space. If the value on the dice matches a horse on the scratch line, PAY the pot with the corresponding value.

    • Continue gameplay until a horse crosses the finish line. The winner is the person(s) holding the betting slip(s) that matches the horse crossing the finish line first.

  5. Distribute the pot to the players with the winning betting slips.   Typically, the pot is split evenly 4 ways, ¼ to each betting slip of the winning horse.  If a person holds more than one winning card, distribute a ¼ stack for each winning card that person has.  (If a person holds two betting slips of the same horse they would receive ½ of the pot).
